Sam Byram has missed too much football in his career due to injury to take anything for granted during his second spell with Leeds United
Sam Byram won’t be taking things for granted at Leeds United as he strives to make the most of every second he spends with a ball at his feet this season. Byram has certainly been through the wringer during his playing career, with a series of unfortunate long-term injuries getting the best of him since bringing an end to his first spell with the Whites.
Byram knows that he isn’t in the position to be complacent, then, with the memories of those dark days spent going through arduous rehabilitation programmes with seemingly no end in sight still fresh in his mind. And, with the 30-year-old more than aware that he is edging closer to the end of his career, he’s arrived back at Leeds with the aim of giving his absolute all and relishing every moment.
“For me, it’s just a case of every single game and training session giving everything and not looking back and thinking I wish I had done more in that game or I wish I’d have tried a bit harder. I’d like to think that every game I’m absolutely shattered by the end and I’ve given everything.” “When I first came I didn’t know what the reception would be like,” he added. “I’d say about 80 per cent was positive.
