Sam Allardyce was bleak about Leeds United's promotion hopes following Premier League relegation
Daniel Farke has revealed Sam Allardyce’s warning to Leeds United supporters following relegation inspired him to take on the challenge at Elland Road. With the Whites in dire straits, the previous regime appointed “Big Sam” to try and keep the club afloat.
“We need to sit down and discuss the whole infrastructure of the club,” he said. “Recruitment is the number one factor for any manager. You can’t improve a player by 10 per cent, it’s going to be two to three per cent. “I would not deny if, one day, Leeds United were back in the big time, in the Premier League, if I'm honest,” Farke replied when asked if games like last night are why he wanted to manage in the Championship. “I wouldn't say ‘no, we don't want promotion to the Premier League, we want to stay in the Championship because it’s so interesting’.
“I'm happy and delighted I can repay a bit of trust back but now we have to keep going. The season is not over just after one win. We have to keep going in order to achieve what we want to achieve.”
