A winter storm warning remains in effect from 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon into 11 a.m. Friday morning as wintry conditions in high elevation areas are expected to lead to “significant travel impacts” and “snow-covered roads and hiking trails,” an urgent National Weather Service messageThursday morning.
A wind advisory will also go into effect at 4 p.m. Thursday and remain until 4 p.m. Friday as the NWS forecasts 20 to 30 mph wind speeds with gusts of up to 50 mph. “Poor road conditions, blowing wind, blowing snow … that’s our main concern right now,” Murdock said. “Precipitation of any kind will reduce visibility. If you need to be on the road in these conditions, take it much slower than what you’re used to. When you get to higher elevations, the rain and snow will come at you pretty fast. That’s going to be a rough time, and it’s going to be dangerously cold on top of all of this.
