There will be a fire weather watch in effect for Hill Country Wednesday as dry air, low humidity, gusty winds provide critical fire conditions.The recent dry and mild weather, along with expected breezy conditions, has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Fire Weather Watch for parts of the San Antonio region on Wednesday.
A cold front is expected to arrive in the area Wednesday morning, bringing with it a low chance of rain east of Interstate 35 and Interstate 37, according to the weather service. Behind the front, the NWS says to expect critical fire conditions with low humidity and gusty northwest winds in the Hill Country.
The weather agency says gusty winds up to 30 mph are expected in parts of the Hill Country. Orlando Bermudez, a meterologist with the NWS in San Antonio, said the watch may likely be updated to a Red Flag Warning on Wednesday. Officials are asking residents to avoid outdoor activity that could inadvertently cause wildfires.
