Australian comedian Barry Humphries dies in Sydney hospital aged 89
The comedian, 89, best known for his alter ego Dame Edna Everage, was admitted to Sydney’s St. Vincent’s Hospital earlier this week.
The comedian, who is most famous for his Dame Edna Everage character, underwent hip replacement surgery after tripping on a rug while grabbing a book back in February.At the time, Mr Humphries said he was hoping to be back on his feet in time for another 'one man show' to be held later this year.Tributes have been pouring in following the announcement, including from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
