Dallas police confirmed Tuesday that Hernandez violated his parole in June because he cut off his ankle monitor. Carrollton police arrested him June 17 after patrol officers at an apartment complex recognized Hernandez and knew he had a warrant for his arrest, a city spokeswoman said. After they detained him, he “intentionally struck the patrol vehicle with his head” and caused a slight dent, she added.
Hernandez’s parole terms have been criticized heavily by police officials, including Dallas police Chief Eddie García, since the shooting this weekend. Hernandez was on parole and had an active ankle monitor when he was at the hospital Saturday, butpermission to be there because his girlfriend gave birth to their child, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
