Dallas fentanyl strike force’s latest win: More Narcan for DPD patrols, new testing tool | Grigsby

DPD will use part of the donation to buy a device for its narcotics department that can immediately identify fentanyl in confiscated drugs. The new tool will allow police to pinpoint fentanyl’s appearance more quickly in particular neighborhoods or on campuses so they can take action to stop the spread.
“This strike force is all about breaking down silos,” Blackmon said. “Lots of groups were all doing good work, but we are making more headway doing it together.” The Overdose Response Team, which began work in February, sends a paramedic and services specialist to follow upThe effort is part of a three-year partnership with the nonprofit Recovery Resource Council and Dallas Fire-Rescue.
