Dallas recreation centers and libraries could reopen to the public Thursday as temperatures are forecast to start inching above freezing, city officials say.

The Dallas metroplex woke up this morning with more sleet and freezing rain creating very dangerous conditions for motorists on the roads. The Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 9 AM CST Thursday.

“We really do still encourage people to stay off the roads,” he said. “The melting that we are seeing is not necessarily going to apply to raised surfaces, trees and power lines.” The city doesn’t treat residential streets, leaving most neighborhoods waiting for the sun to thaw roads.
