After two years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Phoenix Zoo is celebrating children by paying homage to Mexico's official Children's Day.
With live mariachi, folkloric dances and a variety of zoo activities, the Día del Niño celebration returns to the Phoenix Zoo.
Due to Arizona's rich Latino population, the commemoration of April 30 has become more and more commonplace. For almost 15 years, the Phoenix Zoo has celebrated Día del Niño, but each year there is something different. This year attendees will be able to create art with the help of Phoenix Artists Guild artists, learn to bird watch with iNaturalist, enjoy a variety of music and entertainment and watch the Zoocademy Awards Animal Show.Día del Niño, or Children's Day, is a day during which families celebrate their youngest.
Internationally, World Children's Day is celebrated on November 20. The UN General Assembly allocated the day in 1954 to promote brotherhood among the world's children and promote their well-being with social and cultural activities. The festivity will include a presentation of animals, live shows for children, live music and shows for all ages.
