At least 16 players from at least seven teams have spent time on the COVID-19 injured list over the past week, including 11 going on the list in the last two days.
Nimmo returned from the list Tuesday.
Three of those A’s had been held back on the restricted list over the weekend when the team went to Toronto because of Canada’s restrictions against unvaccinated visitors. That includes Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck, who would have been the scheduled starter for the second game of that series and who told the Boston Globe he’s not vaccinated.The Cubs, by the way, play in Toronto in August.
But the virus hasn’t gone away. And it’s already showing its ability to impact a third straight MLB season.
