The Chicago Symphony Orchestra announced its 2023-24 programming Wednesday, its first without a music director since Riccardo Muti’s appointment in 2010.

The tour will hit 11 cities in seven countries; further details, including venues and additional programming, will be announced later this year.Other notable commissions this season — all by American composers — spotlight members of the orchestra. Now that the New York Philharmonic has sprung for its new music director, Gustavo Dudamel, all eyes will be on the CSO as it prepares to fill its own high-profile vacancy. This season includes podium debuts by Gemma New , Elim Chan and Kazuki Yamada , as well as reunions with decades-strong collaborators like Michael Tilson Thomas , Herbert Blomstedt and James Conlon .
