Elias Voit may have already been arrested, but the Criminal Minds: Evolution finale left his fate on a cliffhanger, and showrunner Erica Messer teases its resolution. The BAU has successfully taken down Sicarius after an intense final chase that almost got Dave Rossi killed. But while Voit is now in custody, he will continue to play an important role in the show, given his knowledge of the so-called Gold Star.
At the end of the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1 finale, Voit is put in an interrogation room. Before the show could reveal who's going to interrogate him, the scene cuts to black, leaving a big lingering question that will expectedly play in season 2. Luckily, Messer tells TV Insider that they plan to resolve the cliffhanger early on in the show's sophomore year, although she is tightlipped about the identity of Voit's mystery interrogator.

The mystery about Gold Star is expected to be a big part of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2. While Messer admits that they haven't decided yet on how it's going to play out, it's possible that whoever is meeting Voit intends to get to the bottom of it. Otherwise, it's also plausible that it's someone aware of who Gold Star really is and is looking to strike a deal with Voit, so he would keep his mouth shut about it.
However, arguably the best way to pay off this cliffhanger is if the mystery person turns out to be someone already familiar. It could be Tyler Greene, considering his ties to Voit and the military, which the term Gold Star is usually associated with. Otherwise, it could also be BAU member SSA Matt Simmons due to the same reason. Whoever it is, learning the person's identity is the first step towards figuring out this new mystery in Criminal Minds season 2.
