James Johnson II, 29, died on Oct. 20, 2020, after being shot at a gas station in the Hilltop neighborhood.
Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in an Around 4 a.m. on Oct. 20, 2020, Columbus police received a ShotSpotter alert about gunshots at the Sunoco gas station, located at 2281 Sullivant Ave. in the city's Hilltop neighborhood. Officers who arrived at the scene found shell casings in the parking lot, and a few minutes later a 911 call came in about a shooting at the United Dairy Farmers located at 530 Hague Ave.
When police arrived at the United Dairy Farmers, they found 29-year-old James Johnson II, of the Far West Side, inside a Honda Element. Johnson had been shot multiple times and was rushed to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where he died. The investigation determined two men were involved in the shooting, which occurred at the Sunoco station. Johnson then drove to the United Dairy Farmers and police were called.
Police believe a red over gold Pontiac Montana that was being driven by a female, along with the two male passengers, was involved in the shooting.
