'It couldn't pass last Congress because...Nancy Pelosi was the speaker of the House and she doesn't believe in gender at all,' RepMTG said at CPAC before announcing she'd reintroduce her bill to make providing 'gender-affirming care' to children illegal.
Greene received cheers and rounds of applause when she told the crowd about the bill she'll soon introduce that would make it a felony to provide"gender-affirming care" to children under the age of 18. Opposing permanent treatment for transgender minors has been one of the biggest rallying cries at CPAC.
The bill would make prescribing hormone replacement therapy or performing surgeries such as mastectomies or genital reconstructions on youths who believe their gender doesn't match their biological sex a Class C felony, which carries 10 to 25 years in prison or a $250,000 fine.Greene introduced the bill last Congress with the help of Chloe Cole, an activist who detransitioned after taking testosterone, puberty blockers, and receiving a double mastectomy between the ages of 12 and 17.
Other lawmakers speaking at CPAC on Friday include Reps. Matt Gaetz , James Comer , and Byron Donalds .
