About 15% of the people with severe COVID-19 had dementia a year after leaving the hospital, and about 26% had mild cognitive impairment. Cognitive issues are common when a person is sick with COVID-19. However, the long-term consequences of COVID-19 on mental abilities remain unclear. This study adds new information about changes in the cognition of COVID-19 survivors, Wang says.
