No matter how you’re dressing right now, there’s no arguing that the pandemic is changing how we dress and is changing fashion forever. Many people agree fashion has needed a revamp for a long time: whether that has to do with fast fashion production or the neverending fashion week calendar. “Western fashion has been ready for an overhaul for a very long time,” adds fashion historian and archivist J. Leia Lima Baum.
Likewise, Larivée is predicting that post-pandemic, sweatpants will be relegated to the back of our wardrobes. “They will still be present, but they won’t be considered formalwear, due to the cultural background. It won’t be acceptable to wear sweatpants at work, unless you work from home.
