The prime minister has rejected suggestions the government acted too late in reintroducing travel restrictions after the discovery of the Omicron variant of COVID-19
Professor Mark Woolhouse, a member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies which advises the government on its pandemic response, told the BBC's Andrew Marr that the new rules had come"too late" to make a"material difference"."I think what we're doing is responding to the pandemic," he said during a visit to Merseyside.
"I don't think we need to change the overall guidance and advice we're giving about Omicron in this country. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said the government should have acted"more quickly" and were"behind the curve", as he called on them to bring the costs of the tests down.
