Court records detail a violent and dangerous encounter with an alleged drunken driving suspect who nearly choked a Crown Point police dog unconscious early Sunday morning.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Tyler Lee Pollard, 32, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, is charged with battery on public safety official, a Level 6 felony; intimidation, a Level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony; striking, interfering with a law enforcement animal, a Level 6 felony; and misdemeanor operating while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct, and reckless driving charges.
As one officer approached the vehicle from the passenger side with his ballistic shield and another officer providing him cover, they discovered the vehicle was locked. One officer then broke the passenger side window with a police baton, records state. Pollard again refused to comply with the officers’ repeated orders to exit the vehicle, at which point they were able to unlock and open the driver’s side door.
