Newlyweds who booked a £6,000 five-star honeymoon in Mexico ended up with a “holiday from hell” after finding a dead bird floating in the children’s pool, getting food poisoning and “swimming in everyone else’s dirt” and as compensation were offered a discount of just £600, which they were “shocked” at.
As a result, Rebecca has asserted she would never book a holiday with Tui again, and thinks she would have had a “better time staying in the Travelodge”. Rebecca told PA Real Life: “It was meant to be a holiday of a lifetime, and it was a holiday from hell, we were so disappointed and upset. Around a month after Rebecca and Jack tied the knot, they visited Tui’s Meadowhall branch in Sheffield and booked a £6,000 multi-destination holiday to Mexico as their honeymoon. Rebecca said: “We were just really excited especially about the Planet Hollywood hotel because it’s brand new and the spec looks amazing.
After the newlyweds’ positive experience at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort and Spa, the family were looking forward to going to Cancun and staying at the newly renovated five-star Planet Hollywood hotel but when they arrived their excitement soon turned into disappointment. Rebecca said: “I used to be a hotel manager and I instantly knew what we expected and what we paid for was not what we got.
“My son kept asking if we could go back to the other hotel. We booked this hotel because it was meant to be all singing and dancing, there were meant to be shows with Marvel characters but we only saw the characters once.
