Council slammed for 'dilly-dallying' over electric car-charging points being offered to Pendle for free
Fresh calls have been made to progress talks about an offer to install more electric car-charging points in Pendle by a company which is apparently willing to pay rent to Pendle Council as part of the deal.
“Only one supplier is offering to pay rent to locate chargers for 120Kw at Wellhouse Road in Barnoldswick and Dockray Street in Colne. Provision of such fast chargers is a boost for the host locations. Accordingly, council resolves to proceed with negotiations for these chargers in advance of the wider charger network.”
“It would be ridiculous to pre-judge it all now. We have heard from seven companies and are waiting for three. Conservative Neil Butterworth agreed with waiting for more information before making any contract decision. But he also said some existing slower-speed charging points had been installed in bad locations, such as in Colne.
