The collection draws heavily on their recent trip to Cairo, the home of Dainty’s late grandmother, whose visuals were a formative influence. “I grew up with this huge archive of photos that she had taken in Cairo’s heyday, in the 1920s and 1930s,” he explains. We’ve done a lot of stonewashed-looking denims for the first time, and mixed them with these maroon tracksuits and stuff. This is a key image for the collection really.”“This photo is being used as a reference for one of the environments in the film. This stone path has sort of become the runway, and then Daniel Swan is doing this sandstorm that sweeps across it, with boys walking down. This image itself is about capturing the atmosphere and digitally rendering it into the film.
