Japanese health authorities have completed testing for all on board, with 149 people testing positive for COVID-19 as of May 4.
Everyone is staying in single-occupancy rooms and the cruise line has already upgraded its precautionary and containment measures. Costa Cruises, a Carnival subsidiary, previously said at the end of last month that after testing everyone,Costa is working with the Japanese government to wrap up repatriation plans for all on board, which began this month.
Of employees who tested negative, 44 Indonesians flew home May 4. As for other countries: 125 Filipinos, four British, six Malaysian, one Korean and one American flew home on May 5. The American who flew home was the only American on the ship, according to Costa.The Costa Atlantica has been docked in Nagasaki since Jan. 29 for maintenance work. No passengers are on board.
