Meet Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon new baby - name, birth story and exclusive OK! pictures
Former Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon exclusively introduces her newborn son, who she shares with her footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson, to OK! VIP readers, in an adorable at-home photoshoot.
The delighted couple invited OK! to their West Lancashire home to share a glimpse into life as a family of three, and reveal the obstacles they had to overcome to become parents. Throughout our shoot, the besotted pair can hardly take their eyes off the newborn, who they exclusively reveal is named Sonny Jude.
Lucy adds the name they had for a girl – Honey – has been shelved because, having a Pomeranian pup called Sushi, it would sound like they had two dogs! “But even though it was an awful time, if we hadn’t gone through the miscarriage, we wouldn’t have Sonny now. It kind of feels like it was all meant to be because if it hadn’t happened, he wouldn’t be him.
Lucy says she actually felt “quite calm” about the decision. “I think the wait and not knowing what’s happening is scarier,” she explains. On 29 January, she arrived at the hospital at 9am for her induction. “Having the ventouse is classed as an assisted birth, so we headed into surgery around 6pm, and he was born at 6.34pm, weighing 7lb 4oz. He had a bit of a cone head for a few days, but he’s fine now.”“He had a mirrored light and I could see everything!” she says. “I tried not to look – it was like a crime scene, it was freaking me out. There were loads of tissues soaked in blood. The stitches are the part you don’t prepare for. Going to the toilet for the first time was so painful.
After a second night in hospital, Lucy was relieved to head home with Ryan and their newborn, where they were welcomed by their mums, Ryan’s dad – who decorated Sonny’s adorable rainbow-themed nursery – and Ryan’s sister. The families enjoyed a Chinese takeaway together, but Lucy and Ryan can barely remember it!
