U.K.’s first coronation since Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne in 1953 has led to a surge of bookings for accommodations in London.
The eyes of the world will be on London’s Westminster Abbey Saturday for the coronation of King Charles III.
Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected to flock to London, according to news reports, for the U.K.’s first coronation since Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne in 1953. As of April 24, London’s hotel-occupancy rates show May highs during the coronation weekend, with 67.7% on Friday, May 5, and 66.8% on Saturday, May 6. At the same time last year, bookings were at 58.8% and 61.9%, respectively.
