In 2016, I was elected to Congress in a ruby red seat that no Democrat had won since 1933. As exciting as that night was, President Trump also won -- not only in my district, but in states all across America that traditionally went Democratic. Over the next two years, the Republicans controlled the House, the Senate and White House with an extremely partisan hand -- and they aggressively gutted everything from health care coverage to environmental protections.
Rep. Josh GottheimerWe may have won the House back in 2018, but only by winning 31 districts like mine that President Trump also won in 2016: moderate, suburban districts. In 2020, everything is on the line again, including our narrow majority in the House. The wrong candidate with unrealistic policies and unworkable ideas could upend our chances for victory.
