School districts are primarily funded by local taxes, so any economic development will directly impact their funding.

When school districts have the ability to grant property tax limitations, they attract new companies to the area, increasing economic development and job opportunities. This boosts tax revenue, allowing schools to fund extracurricular programs, build nicer facilities and attract more high-quality teachers. In turn, improved schools help the community appeal to more businesses as it becomes a more attractive place to live and work.
A successful program, like the one proposed in H.B. 5, will also allow local communities to choose which companies they want to attract. Local governments know their communities’ needs and priorities best.
