, which will include a conversation about all things camp between performer Billy Porter and scholar Madison Moore on June 23rd as well as additional events and a very special public performance. On June 11 at 6:30 p.m., the museum’s plaza will transform into an outdoor dance hall extravaganza, with a vogueing competition between performers like Asia Balenciaga, Bootz Prodigy, Dashaun Lanvin, Omari Mizrahi, TyEbony, and Tamiyah Mugler.
The Battle of the Legends competition will honor the winner with the grand prize of Legend Slayer. The vogueing dance event, coupled with Porter’s onstage discussion on the meaning and value of camp in our culture and in the art of performance, is the kickoff point for MetFridays Pride theme. These museum events will feature in-gallery talks by curators and more special guests like sexuality educator Ericka Hart and artists Louis Fratino and Vincent Chong.
