Jimmy Duke's last Dark Thirty concert is Shana Morrison on Sunday, Sept. 25
If you are a music fan, there are plenty of things you can do to support your favorite musicians. You can go to their shows. You can buy their albums. You can wear their T-shirts, join their mailing lists and talk them up to anyone who will listen.
Tomorrow, Duke and Piro-Duke will welcome their last living-room audience with a sold-out concert by Bay Area singer/songwriter Shana Morrison. Because of COVID, they will not be serving food. Complimentary beer, wine and nonalcoholic beverages will be on the menu, as always. The same goes for Dark Thirty’s priceless vibe.
Deciding to end his accidental impresario career with a show by Morrison was an easy call. She is one of the couple’s favorite performers, and like many Dark Thirty artists who have been treated to Duke and Piro-Duke’s hospitality, Morrison has become a good friend. Shuttering Dark Thirty Productions was kind of a no-brainer, too. While he had no music-business background before he started , Duke ended up being involved with almost every aspect of every concert, from negotiating with managers and working with the lighting and sound guys to picking up cases of water at Costco.
