First Fernando Tatis Jr., then Manny Machado and Joe Musgrove in form of COVID ... but if there's an owner who can kill the beast it's Peter Seidler
Fess up. You remaining Angry Villagers thought about it, stupid as it seems. But what doesn’t seem idiotic nowadays? The Curse isn’t real, of course, but in its phantom form it still manages to get under our skin and remove happiness and whatever civic pride we attempt to harvest.
It easily could have been a harmless slip, but The Curse doesn’t deal in harmless — although by some Mile High miracle, he didn’t use all of his devastating powers on this one. And, with Fernando Tatis still on leave after The Curse pushed Junior off his motorcycle, Manny was the primary offensive and defensive reason for the somewhat surprising success.
That’s The Curse. A city that has produced so many great male and female athletes, Olympic champions, world champions, Heisman winners — the list is remarkable — has not been given the athletic whammy. We have not had much luck with owners, many of whom were born between third and home and never scored.
