Kevin Priola switched party affiliations, saying"our planet and our democracy depend on" Democrats being in charge.A Colorado state senator announced on Monday that he has left the Republican Party to become a Democrat, citing the GOP’s efforts to peddle election conspiracy theories and block increasingly necessary climate legislation.

Priola expressed dismay that the Republican Party has changed from the one he joined in 1990.
