The cost of a college education can be gigantic. But lots of times, all that money does little to equip students for right role once they’ve graduated. Too many of them are clueless about how to use their education correctly. U.S. Census Bureau data showed, in 2016 dollars, that second year earnings post-graduation for an economics major at the University of Texas Austin, for example, were $37,100 for students in the 25th percentile; 50th percentile, $49,899; 75th percentile, $67,785. Earnings for economics majors were substantially higher compared to general biology, psychology, or sociology majors.And student loans are major burdens that a grad needs to pay off, so a better starting salary is a plus right there.
