Steven Cull spent two months in hospital
A man who was almost killed in a dog attack, has thanked the surgeon who saved his life by amputating his arm below the shoulder.
Steven, 48, explained how the dog, which was not his, had circled him before launching the attack in October last year. He described it as "a monster" and explained how the animal continued to savage him after he had been brought to the ground. "The poison of the dog saliva was running through my veins and my organs started to shut down … I don't know how they brought me back after that."
His surgeon Mr Brown says his patient's ability to cope with the trauma has been remarkable and an example to all. And he explained the situation the surgical team when Steven was transferred to the Ulster Hospital from Craigavon Area Hospital for emergency care. "He has been able to get through this to some degree but no matter what, the arm is lost. But his attitude is an example to us all.
