The officer, who discussed an active homicide case, also engaged in a spat with the victim’s family member through Instagram DMs, according to a city investigator who reviewed the case.
Ta’Lor Payne broke several rules when she used a public Instagram forum to comment on an open investigation, according to recently released city records.
Payne served her suspension in mid-May and has since returned to the division’s Fifth District, police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia confirmed. It was clear that Payne was a police officer based on her Instagram bio, and her comment spawned several others to chime in, apparently aware that Payne had worked the case herself, according to the city investigator.
