Hakim Benjamin, 21, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sara Lioi after he pleaded guilty in October to one count of conspiring to steal cars and one count of possessing a stolen car.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced a Cleveland Heights man to 27 months in prison after he admitted to helping a Detroit-linked car-theft ring steal high-end vehicles.pleaded guilty in October
to one count of conspiring to steal cars and one count of possessing a stolen car. Benjamin also was ordered to pay $1,203,445 in restitution to be paid jointly with three others charged in connection with the theft ring. The three others charged — Lavelle Jones, Jaylen Harris and Devin Rice— have pleaded not guilty and a trial is scheduled for March 13.
