Devin Wells, 22, and Eric Williams Jr., 21, were charged in federal court in Cleveland in connection with a May carjacking of a woman in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood.

CLEVELAND, Ohio— Two Cleveland men face federal charges in connection with the armed robbery of a woman’s car in Ohio City.

They pleaded not guilty at their arraignments Tuesday in front of U.S District Magistrate Judge Tom Parker. Both will remain in federal custody while the case is pending. The robbery happened about 8:20 p.m. May 28 on West 26th Street and Carroll Avenue, in a high traffic area near Great Lakes Brewing Company, Dave’s Supermarket and other businesses.

The woman looked up and saw the barrel of a gun and two masked men standing next to her SUV, police reports said. She told officers that she initially started to drive away, but she left the car in drive and bolted out of it, police reports said. They later led police on a high-speed chase through several city streets, court records said. Both men were arrested weeks later and initially charged in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
