The classic 1988 film is showing as part of the Houston Cinema Arts Festival

Last month, the Friends of the River Oaks Theatre staged an outdoor screening of the 100-year-old vampire film"Nosferatu" outside the theater for Halloween. This month, the organization has hooked up with Southwest Alternate Media Project and the Houston Cinema Arts Society to screen Giuseppe Tornatore's 1988 classic"Cinema Paradiso" outdoors across from the River Oaks Theatre as part of the Society's Houston Cinema Arts Festival which runs Nov. 10-17.
The"Cinema Paradiso" screening takes place 8 p.m. on Nov. 14 on the River Oaks Shopping Center parking deck at 2030 West Gray. There will be music before the film from the duo W7 and a couples kissing contest."Doors" open at 7 p.m. "Cinema Paradiso," about a filmmaker's recollection of watching movies at his village theater as a child, is a celebration of movies and movie-going. It won the Oscar for foreign-language film.
