Once the news set in, Chryseis started thinking about what she wanted in her wedding. From the start, she knew she wanted an autumnal Zen theme, and Kyoto immediately came to mind. She worked withfrom Hong Kong to orchestrate all of the festivities. For the main event, Chryseis wanted a tulle dress with a princess-shaped skirt. “Oscar de la Renta was the first name that I thought of,” she says. “Designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia worked tirelessly to make sure every detail was perfection.
The morning of the wedding, Chryseis flew in her usual glam team from Malaysia to help her get ceremony-ready. The service was held on the outdoor deck at the Four Seasons Kyoto, by the 800-year-old koi pond, and Chryseis looked like Cinderella as she descended the stairs with her tulle skirt flowing behind her.
When the ceremony was over, Chryseis changed into her Prabal Gurung dress for the reception. There, chef Hiroyasu Kawate from Florilège and chef Vicky Cheng from Vea created a “dinner collaboration,” where French-Japanese food was served. Post-meal, it was time for the performance. “We had a K-pop boy band perform at our wedding—it doesn’t get any more Asian than this!” Chryseis says with a laugh.
