The Virgin Radio presenter said he's extraordinarily lucky after the diagnosis and is to have an operation next month
Chris Evans has spoken for the first time about how his cancer was first spotted - and said he was very lucky it was diagnosed so quickly. The radio presenter was talking for the first time on television on TalkTV about his diagnosis and said he feels ‘extraordinarily lucky’.
He explained that he’d started having a massage on a Friday as a healthier replacement for going to the pub: “So I started having this massage last thing work wise on Friday. The lady who did my massage spotted this mark on my left calf six weeks ago and she said, ‘Have you noticed this before? I think you should get it checked out.
Chris said a biopsy was taken even though the medical expert who had a look didn’t think it was anything to worry about. But he added: “And then when I was away, I got an email and the email said, ‘Can you please call to discuss the results?’ And then you go, ‘Ah, here we go’, and so you get yourself ready for that phone call and then she described what it was and she said, ‘Look, obviously nobody wants to get this’ but she said, ‘If you could choose one, this is the one you would want to get’.
