According to new data, the Chris Evans and Ana de Armas-led action comedy Ghosted debuted to record numbers for streamer Apple TV Plus.
The Chris Evans and Ana de Armas romantic comedy Ghosted draws record viewership for Apple TV Plus. Ghosted stars Evans as Cole, who falls head over heels for Armas' Sadie, only for her to ghost him. The two are then caught up in funny, action-packed set pieces after Cole discovers Sadie is a spy. Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher is at the helm, with Adrien Brody, Tate Donovan, and Amy Sedaris rounding out the cast.
According to data from Samba TV , Ghosted is the most-watched movie debut ever for Apple TV Plus. Ghosted saw 328,500 viewers tune in over the first two days of release on the streaming service. This number beats Apple TV Plus' other high-profile films, like Tom Hanks' Finch, which earned 228,500 over its first two days, and the Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds musical comedy Spirited, which debuted with 174,000 viewers.

Ghosted holds a 29% Rotten score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, which is lower than the audience score of 61% Fresh. However, that 61% is barely in the Fresh territory, meaning that the film may not have landed with audiences well, despite posting record viewership.
Ghosted has a lot going for it, with Evans and de Armas being a huge draw that audiences felt compelled to tune in to see. Furthermore, Fletcher, who has directed feel-good movies like Eddie the Eagle, was working from a script penned by four high-profile writers. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote Deadpool and Zombieland, co-wrote Ghosted with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the duo who have written all three Tom Holland-starring Spider-Man films.
Ghosted has received good word of mouth on some aspects of the film, like the numerous funny Marvel cameos, which could have helped bring in more viewers. However, even with posting record numbers, many have found the film overstuffed and often directionless, with the two stars not working well off each other. While Ghosted has initially succeeded in bringing viewers in, there may be an eventual dropoff thanks to the lackluster reviews.
