China has launched a three-day military exercise using warships and fighter jets to encircle Taiwan in retaliation for a meeting between the island’s president and the United States

The Chinese navy were also holding “live fire training” in Luoyuan Bay in Fujian province opposite Taiwan, according to the local Maritime Authority. The so-called “Joint Sword” exercises were, it said, a “necessary action to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
