China’s factories are resuming production, but pandemic-triggered recessions around the world mean manufacturers are pessimistic about demand for exports

China’s official index of manufacturing purchasing managers slipped to 50.8 in April, the National Bureau of Statistics said. That is down from 52.0 in March, when it bounced back strongly from February’s dismal 35.
