Tim Anderson of the Chicago White Sox and José Ramírez of the Cleveland Guardians could both be facing hefty suspensions after a wild brawl broke out between the stars during Saturday's MLB contest.
Anderson was at second base during the sixth inning of the game when slid in head first, before Anderson tagged him out. Immediately, Ramírez looked up at Anderson to tell him something — which eventually escalated to the two players yelling at each other, before they pushed the second base umpire aside, raised their fists, and initiated a fight.It's fight night in Cleveland 😳 pic.twitter.
The White Sox would ultimately bested the Guardians 7-4. It remains to be seen what punishments await Ramírez and Anderson, but it will likely include a multiple-game suspension. “He’s been disrespecting the game for a while,” Ramírez said of Anderson after the game Saturday night. “When he does something like that on the bases, he can get somebody out of the game. So I was telling him to stop doing that. After he tapped me really hard, more than needed, he said he wanted to fight and I had to defend myself.”Anderson did not speak to reporters following the game.
After a 5-3 victory Sunday, Chicago is currently ranked fourth in the AL Central division, while Cleveland is ranked second.
