A retired nurse, considered the matriarch of her Rosemoor neighborhood, was killed in a house fire early Saturday, as her husband fights for his life.
Ari Farmer said he'll need everyone's prayers as he stood outside of what's left of his family home in the city's Rosemoor neighborhood on the South Side.
"I love my mother. My mother was a good person, she was a strong woman... I was just here yesterday," Ari said. Neighbors said calls for help began around 4 a.m. Minutes later, dozens of firefighters arrived to find the single family home engulfed in flames.
