Opinion: Charter schools excel while traditional, union-dominated schools rot
Charter schools are performing better than ever. That’s according to a new study by the Center for Research on Education Outcomes at Stanford University. CREDO looked at educational statistics from 31 states, including California, from 2015-19.
This study compared charters vs. traditional public schools in the same neighborhoods, meaning they were able to compare students with similar socioeconomic backgrounds. The study “did not overblow the case for charters, but made commonsensical conclusions,” Lance Christensen, vice president of the California Policy Center, told us. “It just demonstrates, on pretty much every demographic that’s out there, kids are going to have improved outcomes with an education in charter schools.”
