LOS ANGELES — Charisma Osborne scored a career-high 36 points in her final game at Pauley Pavilion and the fourth-seeded UCLA women’s basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter after blowing an 18-point lead to defeat fifth-seeded Oklahoma, 82-73, in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Monday night.
She had 13 points in the final 10 minutes as the Bruins advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2019. UCLA regained control by going on a 6-1 run at the beginning of the fourth. Kiki Rice added 14 points for UCLA, which advances to face No. 1 seed and unbeaten defending national champion South Carolina on Saturday in a Greenville 1 Regional semifinal. UCLA hung tough with the Gamecocks earlier in the seasonMadi Williams scored a team-high 24 points and Ana Llanusa added 15 for Oklahoma , which couldn’t close out the game in the fourth quarter, as UCLA earned its 15th home win of the season.
Oklahoma had a brief lead early in the game before Gina Conti put UCLA ahead 7-5 on a 3-pointer. The Sooners’ physical play pushed the Bruins to the perimeter, but the Bruins got into a groove and made the most of their opportunities to take a 21-14 lead by the end of the first quarter and ride the momentum into an 11-point run to begin the second frame.
