Jay Basra said that the cross-party group want to promote the positives of remaining in the UK and were unaware that the tweet came from Britain First
The chairman of a new cross-party Unionist Youth Network has responded to a quote tweet by the group's Women's Officer in which immigrants were referred to as 'third world savages'.
When asked about Ms Munn's post, which at the time had been shared by the Young Unionist Network's account, Jay Basra said that he doesn't believe that she knew it came from Britain First. Speaking to Belfast Live about the current political stalemate in Northern Ireland, Jay Basra said that he believes that the only way to maintain Northern Ireland's place in the UK is to have a functioning government.
"Unionism isn't this negative, grey area and we don't want to see the war-cry of no surrender, we need to be more positive in our outreach and we need to be more united in that, he said. "We have to show that we are responsible and show that our parties are not acting for themselves but are acting for the union.
