It's matchday four for the Hoops and Brendan Rodgers will know a win goes a long way towards European football after Christmas.
A first win on the continent this term is still being hunted and this would be an ideal time for Celtic to open their Champion League victory account.
Doses of frustration and late heartbreak have conspired to leave the Premiership champions on one point from nine available so far. They've lost out to Feyenoord at De Kuip and at Parkhead against Lazio with a 2-2 draw against Diego Simeone's side last time out getting them off zero points. But now a major test in the Spanish capital is awaiting Brendan Rodgers and co.
It's a seismic task to walk out with a win but that may be what's required to give them a fighting chance of keeping European football in Glasgow's east-end beyond Christmas. Anything but will leave them fighting uphill and Rodgers has some interesting line-up decisions to make after a rotated side beat Ross County 3-0 at the weekend. There is likely to be changes after regulars Kyogo, Matt O'Riley, Alistair Johnston plus Luis Palma were all on the bench in Dingwall.
David Turnbull has scored twice in as many games while Palma has shown he has an eye for goal in this competition. Here is Celtic's provisional squad and our predicted XI.
