Hollywood's brightest stars dressed up in their finest to walk the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Awards on Thursday night.
She and fellow cast members Paul Dano, Michelle Williams, Seth Rogan, Gabriel LaBelle and Judd Hirsch, along with director Steven Spielberg, received the Vanguard Award at the awards show, which was the festival's first in three years due to COVID-induced cancellations. LaBelle, who plays Spielberg's young counterpart Sammy, also said he learned a lot from many"masters" around him on set.
Their film is an adaption of the 1952 Japanese film"Ikiru" directed by Akira Kurosawa. Ishiguro said he always wanted to create an English version of the film because he was a young Japanese boy growing up in England. He knew from the start that he wanted Nighy in the lead role. "I've met many, many people at question and answer screenings who have asked meaningful questions," Fraser said."I have learned that our tolerance can grow and we can change our heart and our mind if we just give it a chance and to look into the world of someone else who may not present or be the same as who we are and learn that everybody is a person in the final analysis after all, deserving the love, recognition and respect.
