Canada is celebrating Garden Days until June 17. Here’s how you can “Live the Garden Life” and join in the fun.
There are many imaginative ways to plant purple in your gardens, from ornamental purple cabbage to eggplant.“Our first call to action is to plant purple. Purple is shown to have a positive impact on the mind and body. It’s calming. It engages the imagination. It’s uplifting. We need that positive energy,” says Gauthier.
“Visit one of your favourite public gardens or discover new ones,” says Gauthier. “Our public gardens are at the centre of our garden culture. When people go to public gardens, they get inspired. In 2022, as part of the Year of the Garden celebration, the Garden Council partnered with the Centre for Canadian Historical Horticulture Studies and Know History to identify 100 Garden Moments of Canada, celebrating the milestones that contributed to the development of the country’s garden culture and horticulture industry. These 100 highlights can be discovered on the Live the Garden Life website.
