DOJ argues for reversal of ruling that blocked federal mask mandate on planes and mass transit as CDC defends its authority in new brief.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defended its authority to issue a mask mandate for domestic travelers, in a brief filed Tuesday asking an appeals court to reverse a district court's decision in April to strike down the mandate.
"It is difficult to imagine a more direct way to control the spread of communicable disease than a measure that traps infectious particles to prevent their spread," the agency said in the brief, filed by the Justice Department as part of the appeal of the case to the US 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
